I am finally back to my regular mileage, but this week’s runs have been far from normal. Our ice storm lasted a full week, so indoor running gave me lots of time to focus on my mental game!
Thursday:
11 treadmill miles. I was the first and only person in the gym (the roads were really bad). This was also my first two-a-day since my Achilles injury!

We weren’t able to run outside together, but a few of us were able to meet up for a BBC breakfast. My heart was so happy to see my friends!

After breakfast, Corrie and I went to Orange Theory Fitness. I logged some more treadmill miles, rowed, lifted, and did TRX.

My favorite part about OTF is that they monitor your heart rate and send you your results after class. (I promise I worked hard. It’s just really tough for runners to get our heart rate up!)

Jason’s favorite cuisine is Indian, so were really excited to try Chauhan Ale & Masala House. We LOVED it!

The roads were still thick ice, so more treadmill miles. Choose Joy shoes seemed like the appropriate reminder.

It may have been cold and icy, but I was craving a green smoothie from Daily Juice. “When You’re Healthy You’re Happy!!”

I was excited to find out that I’m a new FitFluential Ambassador!

Just in case there was any doubt, I am nuts! 13 miles. 235 laps. Indoor track. BOOM!

Big THANK YOU to Fleet Feet and Nike for my new race kit!!! I’m definitely not an exceptional runner and I often feel more like the team cheerleader (or mascot…ha!). I just really love to run. Either way, I feel blessed to be on a team with some incredible runners.

Sunday: National Margarita Day!

My first outdoor run in a week!!!! 18 miles with my incredible girlfriends!

My friend Shyla (she’s 2nd from the left in the above picture) surprised me with the sweetest Choose Joy gift!!!! Thank you, my friend:)

My long run was followed by a lazy Sunday afternoon…perfection.
I don’t always share my mileage totals, but this was the first week I felt back to my normal running numbers. I’m also proud of myself for running a lot of these on the treadmill!
Weekly Mileage Total: 93
Have you ever run on a tiny indoor track? How did it go? I didn’t hate it as much as I thought I would. Maybe it was because I had friends to talk to.
Did you celebrate Margarita Day?!!
Indian Food…yay or nay?
Peak and Pit? Peak: Reconnecting with my girlfriends to run this weekend after being trapped indoors from the ice storm. Pit: Not being able to get our cars up the driveway and into the garage all week. (They’re finally warm and cozy in our garage!!)

I still can’t believe you ran 235 laps around an indoor track….you must have some very entertaining friends 🙂 And I never realized you ran such high mileage! I don’t like Indian food, except for the naan – I could make a meal out of just that.

My mileage has been a lot lower since the St Jude Memphis Marathon. This was my first week cranking it back up. The naan is the best part!!!

Jen, I’ve run on one of those tracks before; it wasn’t a ton a fun, but it beat the treadmill – ha! I’m so glad you were able to get out for your long run; it was such a nice change, right? Sheesh. We got some more ice last night, but not as bad as the first time; guess I’m headed for the treadmill this morning…ugh. Sounds like a good weekend and I hope y’all are staying safe – crazy winter!

Wow, you are my indoor running hero!!! And so true about the Orangetheory heart rate… It takes me until the end of the “red zone” time to even get it near the red! I celebrated with a hibiscus margarita on Saturday a day early:)

I cannot believe you ran 235 times around the mini track!!!! That is crazy, the best kind of crazy but crazy nonetheless.

It would have been tough to run it solo, but my friends made it fun!

Yeah, the indoor track thing would drive me batty! That takes some serious mental strength. Nice job with the 93 weekly miles. That’s so awesome.

That Indian food looks so good! Perfect for a cold day!
I hope the weather stays clear so you can run outside more this week. (A 90 mile week is amazing, by the way!)

I live in Toronto and I have been finding it so funny to see everyone’s instagram photos and running complaints from the last week or so. From December through to the mid/end March all my miles are “indoor miles” – either on a treadmill or a small track. I give no thought to running 15 to 20 miles on a treadmill. I actually enjoy the constant temps and the access to water and gels without carrying them! Don’t get me wrong, I love running outside but I love the “dreadmill” too! I am glad to see you have embraced indoor running and found some new joy.
all the best,

We were just saying that we must look like wimps to everyone that lives up north!!! I’m definitely thankful that I’ve still been able to run even if it is indoors:)

I started OTF and love it. Trying to fit in 2x/week during my marathon training. But seriously girl….90+ miles in a week??? I’m poopin my pants about 30+ and two OTF’s and feeling exhausted.

Had no idea that your normal mileage is that high! This season is my first foray into the 90s. (previously peaked at 75-83 miles or so) It’s funny, but I’ve actually felt BETTER this season with the higher mileage than I have in past seasons. Would love to hear your best tips on recovering from those higher mileage weeks. And gotta give you props for the MILLIONS OF LAPS you did around that indoor track – nice job!

Thanks so much!! For me, it’s all about running a bunch of those miles at my easy pace. I try to do 1 track workout and 1 tempo a week. Everything else is nice and slow.

I’m with ya. I’m keeping 90% of my runs nice and easy and then trying to work hard to get the other 10% at the pace it needs to be.
