LA Day 2

Monday: Our second day in LA!
Happy Star Wars Day!  May the 4th be with you.  I seriously loved all of the geeky posts on social media!

We started the day with a runabout all over LA.  It’s my favorite way to explore a city.  I was really enjoying this downhill…LA has some legit hills!

Oatmeal breakfast afterwards.

Our hotel has a great gym, so I hit it up for some weights and core work.  I’m so speedy!
As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, this was a last minute trip for me with very little planning.  I did have one spot on my list, though.  Kimberly Snyder’s Glow Bio!  I am a huge fan of all of her books and make her Glowing Green Smoothie every morning.  Sadly she wasn’t there, but I LOVED my acai bowl and chia pudding.

After lunch, I went for a much needed pedicure.  I spent the entire time apologizing for my runner feet. 😦

Once Jason finished his last meeting, we met up for dinner at Katsuya.  My tofu salad and crispy brussels sprouts were incredible!

And, this might be the largest glass of champagne ever! No complaints here…cheers!

Runners: do you get pedicures?  How often and what’s do you prefer bold or natural colors?
Since I posted way too many food pics, what’s the best thing you ate?
Do you do more crunches or planks for your core work?  I’ve been trying to add more plank workouts because I favor crunches.

  1. I do enjoy a pedicure but it has been a while. I like the bold colors on my toes. I usually go more natural on my fingers. I indulged in TWO chocolate chip cookies today. Sshh! don’t tell =-) I prefer the plank work actually. When I try to do crunches I always get this weird muscle spasm/cramp thing. Not sure what the heck it is but when I discovered plank work I opted for that. Love LA. Georgetown Cupcakes is always on my list if I am near Beverly Hills. Enjoy your trip!

  2. I don’t get pedicures very often, but I usually prefer bold colors. I actually don’t have terrible feet for a runner. I don’t get blisters and I’ve never lost a toenail before. Not that my feet are pretty (are any feet pretty?) but they aren’t mangled!

I had the almond ricotta cake at RPM Italian in Chicago this weekend and it was freaking incredible. Actually, everything I ate there was amazing.

I’m more into planks, I feel like I get more bang for my buck!

  3. Unrelated to running…are those Tory sandals from this season or older? I love how simple they are and want a pair! As for pedicures, I don’t get them enough, ugh. Enjoy the rest of your time in LA!

  4. I’ve had two pedicures this year, but those have been the only two in almost two years. Hence, I don’t really want anyone seeing my runner feet. But, living in Florida it’s hard to always hide your feet.

I’m a crunch-girl, but am also trying to incorporate more planks into my core work.

Looks like you are having a nice time in LA! And..I’m okay with lots of food pics. 😉

  5. I’m so glad you’re having a good time, Jen! How amazing that you were able to visit Glow Bio; did they all sorts of amazing things available in the store? Um, it’s been awhile since I had a professional pedicure; I kept saying I was going to go after the marathon in December…then I ran another one in March and my toenails are just really sad and I’m kind of embarrassed to go – ha! I definitely prefer darker colors on my toes; my fingernails are usually in lighter colors, when I take the time to paint them. I’m still feeling the effects of the plank series I did on Sunday, so…planks it is! Enjoy your trip, Jen! Can’t wait to read more!

  6. So jealous of that acai bowl. It looks DELICIOUS! And I try to get a pedicure once a month in attempts to keep my “runners feet” manageable. But my favorite is reflexology!

  7. Usually do my own toenails, but I love getting pedicures in the summer. I apologize for my runner feet, too! Like tizzy said, bold colors on toes, more natural on fingers.

Beautiful pictures — that acai bowl looks fabulous.

I probably do more crunches than planks. I do a lot of Jillian Michaels strength training, and she likes both, but has more crunch variations.

  8. I favour crunches too. I haven’t been for a pedicure in a long time but whenever I go to physio or massage therapy, I apologize for my feet. The bottoms of my feet are so calloused that they’re literally SHARP. Ha ha! Unreal.

  9. I do go for pedicures. I went to a new place recently and the women asked me pretty shortly after she started if I was a runner…. I felt myself sink in the chair a bit wondering, is it that obvious?! Haha. I like brighter colors for my toes but have tried more neutrals and like them for different occasions.

Best thing I ate yesterday was at lunch- I had a salad with grape tomatoes, carrots, avocado, chicken and home made ranch dressing.

I definitely favor crunches too so have also been incorporating more plants into my strength training.

Looks like you’re having an awesome time in LA!

  10. You have the BEST outfits. I love those white shorts.
I just got a MUCH needed pedicure on Saturday. I went for a lighter colour this time but I do love brights for the summer!!
Best thing I ate today so far—my mocha banana smoothie!
    I never do core work…oops.
    Have a great day!!

  11. CA looks like it’s amazingly fun!!! I love exploring new places while running! It is definitely the best way to see things!!

I hardly ever get pedicures because it feels like a waste. I do need one pretty badly soon though! I like bold colors, but tend to get a more natural color.
We had pizza last night and it honestly tasted amazing. It’s been awhile!
I do both crunches and planks..

    Have fun!
