On Friday, I ran a 4 hour trail run.  Saturday, I joined Jason and ran a little over 2 hours to practice running on tired legs.  I don’t focus on pace when I trail run, but I’ve had quite a few folks ask about it.  I’m definitely a lot slower on the trails!

When I got home, I made a dateorade.  It’s creamy, caramel, vanilla, cinnamon goodness!  It’s also vegan and raw!

I was craving salt, so we headed to Chuy’s for lunch.  I promise there’s a salad in that bowl!

Sunday:

First person in an empty gym and a recovery run on the treadmill…

Yes, I was listening to T Swift!

I followed the gym with breakfast with Jason.  I definitely have a healthy appetite….fruit, oatmeal, green juice, and coffee!

And we headed to Smith Park for a little more trail time.  It was a gorgeous day and we wanted to spend as much time outside as we could!

I picked up my first Go Pro!  I have no idea how to use it yet, but I’m excited to learn.

To get some more outside time, we had dinner on the Burger Up patio.  Sunday Funday!

Monday: Memorial Day

We woke up to ominous skies and headed to Percy Warner Park to get our run in as fast as possible.  We finished just in time!

After a full weekend of running, I made sure to drink Tart Cherry Juice for recovery.

Now, I feel just like Caroline!

  1. I’m excited to see pictures from your Go Pro.. especially with all of this trail running you’ve been doing! I don’t have one but have been thinking about getting one. My fiance has been doing a lot of mountain biking so I think we would both use it.

Peak: spending time with my nephew and I had my wedding dress fitting!
    Pit: It’s over 😦

  2. Peak – it was a three day weekend with no specific plans. Pit – Best friend moved this weekend 😦

I have a Go Pro. I wear it on my head and the video I get it a bit more steady. I’ve worn the wrist harness and it doesn’t work as well (for me) unless I stop and really brace my arm to do video. It’s really bouncy if I’m moving. We love ours!

I can’t get into dates. It’s a texture thing for me.

  3. I love tart cherry juice! It works wonders 🙂 A peak for me was going to my first baseball game of the season and watching the Pirates WIN (and no rain!) and a pit was being really sore. I helped my parents with some renovations and went on my long run, so today I can barely move! So sore!

  4. Love dates! We have a Go Pro but I never use it. I want to take it out on my bike. I also run slowwwww on trails – I averaged 13 minute miles last weekend with my husband and 11 minute miles this weekend with my little cross country running buddy. Fav song to work out to right now (so lame) is Boom Clap by Charli XCX, peak from the weekend was my 20 mile run and my MD party, pit was when my calf was slightly achy on Sunday while doing a trail/recovery run!

  5. I love love love dates. They are like candy. Tastes like chocolate caramel – I use them in date balls/protein balls ALL. THE. TIME. Peak: friend and family time all weekend. Pit: the weekend being over : ) Hope you have a great day!!

  6. Oh, my gosh…dates. I can’t even keep too many of them around, because I’ll just pop them in, one after another. I try to ONLY buy them from the bulk container at Whole Foods and just get what I use for recipes, smoothies, etc., so that I know I can’t just eat them whenever I want. They are SOOO good! We don’t have a GoPro but I think you’ll have SO much fun with it! Jonathan wants one for hunting season. “Bad Blood” is awesome; I’ve also recently discovered “Worth It” by Fifth Harmony; have you heard that one?

  7. Taylor Swift is my favorite for treadmill runs!
I got a GoPro for Christmas, but I honestly have not used it yet. I need to figure out how it works soon!
Peak: hiking in the Olympic Peninsula mountains this weekend!
Pit: not being fully unpacked from our move. Three days of boxes sitting around makes me antsy!

  8. Zero pace pressure is the best thing about trail running…well, there’s that and amazing sights, softer surfaces, freedom…it’s just amazing! I haven’t tried a date honestly so I have no clue! You amaze me how you run HOURS on trail and still run recovery treadmill runs?! Inspiring running woman. I can’t wait to see your take on GoPro. Looks like so much fun. My peak: trail running! Pit: working on Memorial Day. Boo. I

  9. My 20 year anniversary is on Tuesday 6/2 and my hubs wants a GoPro. I have a feeling i’ll use it more for running LOL 🙂

I would LOVE to have more date nights or just a vacation.

Favorite song… You know you like it (DJ Snake & Lil Jon)

Peak: Although not high miles I did get to run Saturday, Sun & Monday 🙂
Pit: the humidity and how fast the weekend was over

I do have one question…. Have you changed shoes for trail running. I am a Kinvara 5 & Zealot girl but i am unsure what to move over to for trail/road running. I am so happy to see that slower is ok on trail. The very few times i ran on trail i was so slow it depressed me lol now to get over my fear of snakes and i would truly run more trails.

    • I wear Kinvaras for road and Nike Terra Kigers for trail. If you’re going to run trails regularly it’s worth buying a pair of trail shoes. I end up seeing a couple of snakes every summer!
