About

I started running in 2008 and quickly fell in love with the sport. I race distances from 5k to 50k and especially love ultra trail running.

I am a member of the Fleet Feet Racing Team sponsored by Nike Running, an Ultra Dirtbag Member, Cocogo Ambassador (use code: JENCHOOSESJOY for 10% off), RRCA Certified Coach, and I’m on the Oiselle Flock Team. I am a wife, vegetarian, and Nashville native. My other interests include playing the violin and cheering on the Univeristy of Kentucky Wildcats. I feel blessed to be a part of the running community and I am grateful for the friendships that it has brought into my life!

I am not an exceptional athlete…I run for the love of it.  I am always trying to be the best me. As my blog name states…I believe that joy is a choice and I do my best to make the most of each day!

    • My favorite spot to run is Percy Warner Park…either for trails or on the park road. Its also fun to run around downtown and around the Vandy/Parthenon/Hillsboro Village area. Let me knowing there’s anything I can do to help you plan your trip!!

  1. I just love your blog! Just a question, do you have recommendations on good running gear for colder weather? Do you typically run on treadmill in winter or do you still run outside? Thanks so much!

  2. Hey Jen! Just wanted to say hi! I am reading your blog from Perth, Australia and loving your message! Good luck with the Boston training, I would love to race it! I am starting training for Gold Coast in a few weeks, you should check the Aussie marathons out for your next adventure. Gill 🙂

  4. Glad I found your blog! I moved to Nashville (Franklin actually) back in January from Chicago. I’m training for my 4th marathon right now. I can’t wait to try some of the recipes you have posted – they look great! 🙂
