5.  Lastly, My Boston Goals!  Be kind…sharing race goals is a little scary!
I have started every marathon too slowly (I might be the only runner with this problem!).  Negative splits are good, but I had a 15 minute negative split in Chicago.  So, I’m going to trust my training and get into my goal pace sooner rather than later.
  • A goal: BQ (sub 3:40)
  • B goal: sub 4:00
  • C goal: finish!  If I’m having a really off day, I plan to slow down, high-five, kiss the girls, and have fun!!
I’m not a great runner…I just love to run.  I have a few nerves, but mostly I’m excited and curious for the experience.  This is BOSTON and I refuse to have a bad race!
Happy Friday to all of you and CHOOSE JOY!

3.  We have a new park and trail system in Brentwood, TN.  Unfortunately the city council decided that it was unsafe to allow running on the trails.  What?!!  Runner’s World picked up the story and the local run community rallied.

VICTORY!  We can now run on our park trails!

1. You enter a porta potty and you feel at home.
IMG_5921
4. You actually debate whether you should crap your pants during a race so that you can get your PR.
IMG_5930
7. You critique other people’s running form while you are driving (even though your running form could use some work).
8. Before every trip/vacation you research what runs you will do.
14. You’ve stopped doing other high risk activities like skiing because you don’t want to get injured and not be able to run.
16. You talk in acronyms, e.g. “I wanted to get my PR so I could BQ, but I ended up with a PW. At least I didn’t DNF.”
17. You read running blogs.
18. You run even though you think you might be injured.

The Friday Five

1.  Chocolate Cocao Nibs.  My favorite way to add a chocolate crunch to my smoothies!
The fruit of the cacao tree contains a small bean from which all chocolate is made. Cacao is an incredible health food in its natural state, filled with energy-boosting nutrients. Loaded with minerals such as magnesium which may contribute to normal bone health and healthy immune function, cacao is also high in copper and manganese.
IMG_5469
2.  My friend Liz is an awesome ultra marathoner.  She also writes a blog and is one of the most well-read people I know on all things running.  This week she recommended the Moringa Muscle Soak from Thistle Farms (available in their online store or at  Whole Foods in Nashville).  I have always loved the Thistle Farms mission and their products.  Thanks to Liz, this is my new favorite!!
