I met up with friends for our last long run before North Fork next weekend! We logged a lot of hours in the woods together and I’m so thankful for their company!!!
I was craving a smoothie after the run. What do you do when you can’t make up your mind? Order two smalls…the best of both worlds!
I had a super fun mail day! Batch knows my love for coffee and sent me some fun new coffees to try!!!! They also gave me a discount to share with JCJ readers! Use code: CHOOSEJOY for 10% off your order at BatchUSA.com. Thanks Batch!!!
I also received the biggest box of San Clemente Cookie Dough Co…heaven!! Use code: JENCHOOSESJOY for 10% off your order at SanClementeCookieDoughCo.com.
Sunday: Father’s Day and the Summer Solstice
Happy Father’s Day to both of my dads!!
It was also the first day of Summer and the longest day of the year!
I hopped on the treadmill for 9 recovery paced miles.
I met Jason for an early breakfast…
and a hike around Radnor Lake.
My friend Dave is out of town. He’s letting me pick his garden while he’s gone. This was my first time getting to do it and I’m hooked!!!! I can’t wait to plant my own garden next year.
Jason and I had dinner on the Burger Up patio! It’s hot as hades in TN and I love it!
I had a big salad, because…CAKE!!
Sending prayers and love to Charleston.
Are you a summer lover? I love the heat and sunshine (except when I’m running)!
Did you do anything special for Father’s Day?
Did you race or long run? Share!
Do you have a garden? What are you growing?

I love the summer but the I hate running in the heat!!
We don’t celebrate father’s day until November where I am from even though our mother’s day is the same time. Strange.
I did a long run this weekend and an old injury reappeared. So frustrating!
Have a nice week!

We had dinner with my dad and uncle from NY last night! It was fun to be with both of them for Fathers Day!
I would love to have a giant garden, that looks amazing! I am not a fan of the heat. It just makes me tired and not want to go outside until fall. Bring on the cold weather! 🙂

I’m going to try my hand at a much smaller garden of my own next year. It might be a disaster!

-I like spring and wished it lasted a little longer here in MI. It seems like MI has been having a season identity crisis. It will get super hot/humid and then cool and crisp the next day…. keeps all of us Michiganders on our toes. (I would rather not run in heat/humidity. So I’ve been getting out earlier and earlier in the mornings).
-Father’s Day was celebrated, lots of family time.
-Saturday I did a 6 mile run 🙂
-My parents have a garden and it’s huge. I reap the benefits of their hard work! 🙂

I love love love summer. I could sit outside on the sun all day long! I’m just not a fan of humidity when running! No long run this weekend – way too rainy! Just took it nice and easy : ) Hope you have a fabulous Monday!

I’m the exact same way. I can just sit in the heat, but it’s not great for running.

I LOVE summer!!!!!!!!!!!! The heat and humidity have been making running a little harder…but I will take it over freezing eyelashes and ice any day!!!!!! I love putting on shorts and a t shirt and going outside and not having to put on 15 layers and gloves and face masks. I love coming back sweaty instead of still freezing! Lately sweaty would be an understatement! I did a 14 mile long run and didn’t get out until 10:30….not smart!
We got my husband a new hummingbird feeder and some binoculars to look at them with. We have these cute bird feeders set up outside and love watching the birds!!!
That juice looks amazing!!!!

Looks like an awesome weekend! Isn’t gardening so fun? We are growing tomatoes, red peppers, zucchini and herbs like cilantro, basil, rosemary and mint to cook with this summer. I love making fresh salsa with tomatoes from our garden! Yum! Happy Monday! Cheers!

Hi! Random question: what brand/style of running shorts do you wear? I believe I have a similar leg build as you, and I find most shorts I try on are either too long, or too wide/baggy around the thigh.

I am with you, I love the heat and summer until I have to run in it. I will get up extra early to get my run in to beat the heat.
I celebrated Father’s Day with my husband and step-son by making breakfast for him and the we headed to my dad’s for a grill out and fun times outside. The perfect day!
Just took it easy with a 6 mile run on Saturday.
I have not put a garden in yet but would like to as some point- tomatoes, snap peas, beans, and peppers do well here in WI.
Have a great week!!

Summer’s my favorite season! I even like it when I’m running, so I load up my race schedule for the summer months!
I can’t wait to have a house so I can start a garden. That one is amazing! So beautiful 🙂

That quote is lovely. I printed it out and put it up next to my computer to look at. I love summer evenings when the heat lingers but the sun isn’t so intense. The sun in Denver is INTENSE, so it can be really painful.

I’ll be in Denver on Thursday. Hopefully the heat won’t be too terrible for us!

I am a HUGE summer lover too. Probably because we live on the water and there are so many fun things to do. We spent Father’s Day playing on the water 🙂 and I ran a 5K at the beach! Check out my race recap https://mobilebayrunner.wordpress.com/2015/06/20/race-recap-hot-trot-5k/

I love the heat! I spent the morning with my parents to celebrate Father’s Day – and I have to tell you……you inspired me to stop my pity party about not being able to run, but instead do what I can do! I walked 5 miles yesterday and today at 5:00am, did light weights and core:) Thank you!

Summer is just THE BEST!!! My fave, love, love, love. Those San Clemente cookies look so good, I’m going to have to order one or twenty five 😉 Being in an empty gym is like winning the lottery. And I would love to have a garden, but I have a hard enough time keeping my poor cactus alive. Eek!

Wow!! That is a huuuge garden! Looks great! That’s exciting you’re going to start one next year. You’ll definitely have to post about what you end up planting and garden size, etc. I hope to do that too, but it won’t be next year…probably the following since we’ll be building next spring on the property we bought (if everything goes as planned!).

I am a summer lover, but only dry heat, I can’t handle the humidity! Especially when running! It makes me crabby. I just did a 7 mile run on the treadmill Sunday (because it was too humid out and I didn’t want to be crabby) and then treated my dad to a Father’s Day dinner! As far as gardening goes, my husband is the one with the green thumb! I think gardens are pretty, I just don’t like the upkeep.

I’m not known for my green thumb, but we may give it a go next year in our new yard! My MIL has a great garden and also a spot in a community garden; her tomatoes are divine. I’m so glad you had a great weekend, Jen; that cake is calling me!

Two smoothies? You sound like me! Choosing just one is far too tough a choice to make!
And that lake and garden both look so pretty. I don’t think I could ever garden though, I’m not terribly patient. But, I do love the outdoors and sunshine and warm weather. And yeah, just not when running (the heat that is).
Happy Monday!
