Track Tuesday:

My workout…(spoiler alert: it kicked my butt)
4 mile warmup
drills
9 x 400m (60 second recovery)  Goal: 1:37  Actual: 1:38, 1:37, 1:37, 1:36, 1:36, 1:37, 1:37, 1:38, 1:34
1 mile cool down
My legs were super heavy.  I could really tell that I ran a 50k 10 days ago.  I managed to hit most of my splits, but it was a LOT harder than it should have been.

I couldn’t wait to shower and put on my Pro Compression socks!!!!  I don’t run in compression socks, but I LOVE them for recovery!  They’re like a hug for tired, sore legs.
IMG_4437

I used to wear compression sleeves for recovery.  Pro Compression helped me to understand why compression socks are the better option for recovery.  Read about it HERE!

Because Tuesdays are for Tacos!

Anyone else celebrate have tacos for Taco Tuesday?  What are your favorite toppings?  I love beans, corn, mushrooms, and tofu.

Have you tried Tofutti sour cream?  Thoughts?  We’re slowly tried to sub dairy products for vegan alternatives.

Do you run in compression socks or sleeves?  Do you use them for recovery?

  1. I’ve used several different kinds of compression socks and ProCompression are my favorite! I’d say your legs have a reason to still be tired!

  2. sounds like my kinda fun -> miles, cupcakes, & champs! I tried tofutti last week on my fajitas for the first time and was pleasantly surprised as well 🙂 I’m slowly going plant-based as well so trying to find lots of dairy alternatives for all my fav foods.

I follow you on IG already & just followed pro compression.

My boyfriend & I try to celebrate at least 2x a month. My favorite tacos are sweet potato, black bean, avocado, corn + kale!

Sometimes I will do my long runs with compression sleeves on. Sometimes I use them for recovery after the long runs instead but it makes sense to use compression socks for recovery! If I don’t win, I’m buying a pair!

  3. I’m so excited that y’all are getting a Zooma race, Jen; you’re going to love it! Your taco salad looks really good; I’ve never tried the Tofutti sour cream, but I’m glad you liked it; I’ll try it out! Hope you have a great Wednesday!

  4. Your taco salad looks delicious. I like corn, cilantro, avocado/guacamole, black beans and Pico on my taco salad (hmmm maybe that’s why I love Chipotle so much 😉 )
I also love ProCompression socks for recovery! Put those babies on after a long run and they have helped so much in keeping me injury free!

    Happy Wednesday!!

  6. Do you have Chipotle, Jen? I love to get their marianted tofu (sofritas) on my tacos. It is DELICIOUS. MMMM. It’s only 8 am and I want some. Is that bad?

  7. I love Diaya products… I’m not sure if they have sour cream, but they have great vegan/gluten free cheese options. Even cheesecake! And I do like to run marathons in compression socks.. I find my feet blister less. And I LOVE them for recovery : )

  8. I’m wearing compression socks right now to give my legs some love after a hard tempo run. My favorite tacos toppings are fish, corn, beans, cilantro, and any and all vegetables.

  9. I started wearing compression socks a few months ago and can not imagine running without them now!! LOVE. I also wear them to work after long morning runs, since my profession keeps me on my feet all day long 🙂
Have a fabulous rest of your week!! 🙂

  10. I think I’d have to wait like a year after an ultra to attempt speed work lol!! You’re amazing. I tell you your pooch is the cutest thing. 🙂 I have a pair of ankle length SwiftWick socks that are ankle and foot compression that I like but have yet spent the cash on a full compression sock… Would love a pair though! I just am struggling with spending funds on socks..? Don’t know why! I guess I’ve been still debating if they’re worth it… Your fleet feet group is huge! Great looking group of people. Fleet Feet has come to asheville here but it’s still a 45 min drive for me if I want to run with them.

  11. Hey Jen,
Newer reader, so I’m sorry if this post exists in the archives!!! As someone who puts in a lot of miles, I’m curious about what your nutrition plan looks like. A vegetarian marathon runner myself, I crave a lot more PROTEIN when training. Ha, like, give me all the Greek yogurt! The 32oz tub is a serving, right? Though never letting myself get overly hungry, my top mileage weeks make it really hard to be totally satiated, even after a large meal. Does that make sense? ANYWAYS, I would love to hear more about how you fuel your miles and what a typical day looks like for you when in training mode.

    • I can totally relate to runger! When I’m in peak mileage weeks, I could constantly eat. A typical day for me is a picky bar before I run, gu during long runs, green smoothie for breakfast, snack on fruit, big salad for lunch, more fruit or popcorn snack, some type of veggies and pasta or quinoa for dinner. Like you, I try to never let myself get too hungry!
